Mobile Camping Safaris

Camping in unmatched style is as much a part of your safari as expert-led game drives and thirst-quenching sun downers, and A&K has been refining the safari camp experience for more than 50 years.

On select journeys, we include seasonal safari camps during your stay at the Ngorongoro Crater and from June to October in the Serengeti. Ideally located, these classically tented safari camps feature modern-day comforts while staying true to the romantic ambience of the days of Hemingway and Roosevelt. Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp and Sanctuary Serengeti Migration Camp are each comprised of 10 classic guest safari tents and three large communal tents for the bar, dining and lounge areas.

A scenic campfire with chairs is prepared each evening for sundowners. Night in camp is relaxed and enchanting. Sit beside the campfire and savor the sounds of the African night, or enjoy spectacular stargazing, before retiring to your tent to sleep.

Tents
Four or five bays up to 28 feet long by 14 feet wide and 9 feet high, each with an open-sided veranda furnished with tables and camp chairs; amenities include a hanging wardrobe, baggage stand, two bedside tables, electric lighting and safe

Beds
Specially designed king bed or two single beds (as requested), fitted with crisp sheets, duvets, warm blankets and hot water bottles

Bathrooms
En suite private safari bathroom in each tent, featuring a porcelain flush toilet, running water and “safari shower”— a large canvas bag hung above a shower cubicle and filled with water at your preferred temperature

Traveller’s Valet service included at camps, helping you pack light
